If the US sends ground troops, it will lose the war catastrophically -- troops become trapped hostages
Analysis
Iran is all mountains (natural fortress). ~100,000 US troops encircled, unable to be resupplied, outnumbered vs 90M people. US lacks infantry mass, manufacturing capacity. Historical analogues: Athens/Syracuse, Vietnam. GT#10 adds: 'It is impossible to occupy this country... It is suicidal for the American military to invade Iran.'
